October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
Have you had your mammogram this year? While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

Have you had your mammogram this year? While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

  1. Monthly Self Breast Exam
  2. Yearly Clinic Exam
  3. Are You Over 40? Yearly Mammogram

ACOG (American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists) and the physicians, certified nurse midwives and nurse practitioners at Southdale ObGyn recommend women over 40 receive mammograms every year. If you have questions about mammograms, see the helpful fact sheet from ACOG by clicking http://ow.ly/TujAi.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation has a very informative video on awareness as well as more information on conducting a self-exam for early detection and what to do if you do detect an abnormality.
